"Alternative Expressions of the Numinous" is a conference to be presented within the School of History, Philosophy, Religion and Classics at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.
This interdisciplinary conference will explore topics including (but not limited to):
Esotericism
Mysticism
Alternative expressions of major religions
Religions of re-enchantment
Popular culture religions
Indigenous religions
Paganism and Neo-Paganism
New Religious Movements
Personalised religion
Alternative methodologies
Registration will be available from March 30 2006. Conference registration fees will also include admission to several Straight Out of Brisbane events.

The Queensland Society for the Study of Religion (QSSR) is an incorporated not-for-profit association dedicated to fostering the interdisciplinary academic study of religion. It publishes a twice-yearly, peer-reviewed journal, Khthónios. A special issue of Khthónios will be published containing selected conference proceedings.
Straight Out of Brisbane (or ‘SOOB’) is a festival of independent and emerging arts, culture and ideas. The festival runs this year from August 15th to 20th in Brisbane, Australia's 3rd largest city.
