ESSWE home

Founded in 2005, ESSWE is the world’s largest scholarly association for the study of Western esotericism from antiquity to the present day. In order to secure the future development of the field, members and associates are expected to conduct their research and professional interactions with absolute integrity, interacting with colleagues in a respectful, ethical, and collegial manner. ESSWE is committed to providing an inclusive and anti-discriminatory environment for all of its members, regardless of religion, race, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, gender expression, disability, or other such characteristics. As such, the society will not tolerate harassment, threatening behaviour, or the dissemination of hate speech within its scholarly community, and in any communication platform. ESSWE retains the right to expel members who have been found to be in breach of these standards, and whose conduct risks bringing the association into disrepute.

The ESSWE Ethics Committee is responsible for investigation of complaints concerning the ethical conduct of ESSWE members and associates, and reports directly to the Board of ESSWE. For questions, please contact Júlia Gyimesi, Vice-President of the Board of ESSWE and Ethics Committee chair.
